按照《圣經》“出埃及記”的記載，《十誡》是十條上帝對人類的戒律。而基氏所講述的是十個現代版離經叛道的警世恒言。十段短片都是普通人在平凡生活中發生的故事，卻向我們提出了有關道德人性、宗教倫理、科學理性等諸多人類精神世界的問題。第一誡中葬身湖底的小巴博，都是因為父親一味迷信電子技術的結果；第二戒里的女人在兩難中做出選擇；第三戒是有關婚姻的困境；第四戒講述有關家庭倫理的問題……第十戒以兩兄弟間的猜忌而告終。基氏向我們赤裸裸的解剖著這古老的十誡，永恒的人性難題又一次遭受現代社會里種種有關精神戒律的挑戰與質疑。導演克日什托夫·基耶斯洛夫斯基榮1989年威尼斯電影節ChildrenandCinemaAward等諸多獎項。
